In one of the more memorable NASCAR finishes, Allmedinger and Cindric started in the front for an overtime restart and the action following did not disappoint. While Cindric initially pushed ahead, by the time they reached the stripe with one lap to go, the cars of Allmendinger, Cindric and Justin Allgaier were door to door, beating and banging for the lead.
The contact continued as Riley Herbst entered the mix and the lead continued to swap. At the end it was Allmendinger to get the checkered flag albeit sideways as they continued to crash collecting many of the cars behind them.
“It’s always been a goal of mine to win a race at Bristol. It’s where I made my first Cup Series start, so to win both the race and the regular-season championship is so meaningful, especially with this team. You never know how many more chances you have to do this. I have so much respect for Austin and Team Penske, and we would not be as good as we are without them constantly challenging us and making us better. I have so much love, friendship and respect for my family at Kaulig Racing, and that’s all I’m focused on going into the playoffs. We will take it one race at a time starting next week in Las Vegas.”
