With 11 laps to go, the race was red-flagged due to lightning in the Watkins Glen, New York, area. After the hold lifted, the United Rentals 176 was called by NASCAR officials. Sixty-one of the 72 laps were completed.
“I was biting my nails a little bit when that rain came and what was going to happen with the lightning and all that. I had a really nice piece today and we were able to go out there and get it done. It’s really special to get a win at Watkins Glen,” Hill said.
John Hunter Nemechek, the regular-season champion of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, finished second. He was followed by reigning Truck champion Sheldon Creed, Todd Gilliland and Parker Kligerman.
