Hendrick Motorsport's William Byron Wins Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 400 At Martinsville Speedway

Sometimes winning just one Martinsville winning clock in a weekend isn't enough, so William Byron decided to win 2. After winning the Camping World Truck Series race on Thursday night, Byron did the same in the Cup series race on Saturday.

After teammate Chase Elliott let the initial 185 laps, Byron had the dominant car for the rest of the night and led the field for a good part of the evening. While a late race caution added some drama, no one was able to match up and pass the fastest of the Hendrick Motorsports stable.

Joey Logano challenged near the finish but ended up second while Austin Dillon had a great showing and finished third. Rounding out the top five was Ryan Blaney in fourth and Ross Chastain who worked his way through the field all night and kept his dream season going in the right direction.

Denny Hamlin who won last weeks race in Richmond struggled for most of the event and eventually finished in the 28th place.

The race featured only two cautions that were not the end of a stage.

Byron is the first Cup series driver to have multiple wins in the 2022 season after also winning in Atlanta. This is his 4th career victory in the Cup series and his 16th overall victory among the top three NASCAR series.

Next week's race is at Bristol Motor Speedway on Dirt and on Easter.
