Rico Abreu registered his third win and seventh straight podium finish of the High Limit Sprint Car Series season on Tuesday at Bridgeport Motorsports Park
Rico Abreu became the first driver of the High Limit Sprint Car Series inaugural season to win from the front row on Tuesday at New Jersey's Bridgeport Motorsports Park.
Not only that, he led all 35 laps en route to a third series victory of the season over his championship running mate, Kyle Larson, whose title lead has been dwindled to 15 points in advance of next Tuesday's finale at Indiana's Lincoln Park Speedway.
Abreu's victory came during a race that featured two cautions, the most notable of those stoppages for second-running Buddy Kofoid when his attempt to pry the fellow Californian from the lead went away. On lap 19, Kofoid heaved the No. 83jr Roth Motorsports machine entry deep into turn three and upon exiting turn four, he clobbered into the slower car of Dusty Zomer.
Outside that chaotic sequence of events, Abreu looked as good as he's been all season long, a year in which he now has 12 overall wins.
