If you tuned in expecting the Atlanta racing of old, you soon realized that the repave and superspeedway set up was something completely new, exciting and different.
William Byron held off a late race charge by Ross Chastain and Bubba Wallace to win Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
"Pretty wild," Byron said. "I'm out of breath. It was crazy."
“Lots of changes with the Next Gen car,” Byron added. “The Chevrolet was awesome, had a pretty rough practice and worked hard on it and got it handling well, it was kind of an intermediate style with a little bit of speedway into it, so a lot of fun.”
Sundays race completed with 11 cautions and featured 46 lead changes which was a new track record.
